Mitel Acquires ShoreTel: What it Means for You

Last Thursday, Mitel announced a $430 million acquisition of ShoreTel. According to Raul Castanon-Martinez451 Research’s senior analyst of enterprise mobility, “ShoreTel ‘s Summit CPaaS platform will allow Mitel to catch up with Vonage, which acquired Nexmo last year, and Cisco, which acquired Tropo a few years ago.” So what does this mean for BECA and other ShoreTel users?

Don’t worry – it’s all good things. ShoreTel supports millions of users around the globe, and Mitel won’t let this acquisition affect that. In fact, Mitel is only going to make things even better in the telephony industry. In a statement from Mitel, “Once the transaction is complete, Mitel will be uniquely positioned to offer all customers the advantages of cloud-based communications. For enterprise customers, ShoreTel’s solutions will strengthen Mitel’s ability to cloud-enable customers with existing premise or mixed estate deployments, creating the technical foundation needed for delivery of next-generation cloud applications.”
